CHALLENGE: UN Women wanted to address gender equality issues in the media and raise awareness and funds to benefit the #HeForShe global campaign created by UN Women with ambassador Emma Watson.
RESPONSE: We strategized on how to bring the most attention to this cultural hot point and then, based on our research, created the high-profile, invite-only event, #HeForShe LA Media Summit. For maximum impact, we selected the city with arguably the highest cultural visibility and orchestrated strategic partnerships, including media powerhouse YouTube as host. Our event elevated exposure of the issues and provided an even stronger platform for outspoken celebrity activists.
RESULT: The #HeForShe LA Media Summit was the most successful event to date for both YouTube and UN Women nationally. The evening was at capacity, with more than 300 VIP guests, celebrities and influencers in attendance. Our diverse panel, which included CNN moderator Carol Costello, Academy Award Winner Patricia Arquette, a top CAA agent, the founder of The Black List, and more, also garnered over 1 million digital impressions from top tier media outlets Variety, CNN, Huffington Post, and more.
